My kitchen is a large drawer that holds a grill and pulls out from under the bed. I can keep pots/pans, propane canisters, and all my utensils in it as well. So nice to be able to stand at the back of the van with the doors open and cook outside every day!
I wanted a large enough surface to hold a grill and small propane canister. And storage for a couple small pots/pans and utensils.
The shelf is build out of 3/4" birch plywood.
I wanted to make sure the slots in the back of the drawer could hold several propane canisters.
The drawer slides are attached to 2x4s screwed directly into the subfloor of the van.
I gave the birch plywood a darker color and several coats of polyurethane. I also put rubber mats on the bottom of the storage areas so stuff wouldn't rattle around.
Fits great!
Last step was screw on the counter top and add screw eyes so I could bungee the grill so it wouldn't slide around while driving.
